Relatives of Fentanyl Victims to Hold Second March in La Plata

Relatives of victims of adulterated fentanyl are calling for a second march at Plaza Moreno in La Plata next Tuesday, December 18th, at 6:00 PM to "keep memory and justice alive". According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), this will be the second call "against silence" with the motto of keeping "memory and justice alive", as well as spreading "the truth of the death of our loved ones". The march will take place at Plaza Moreno in La Plata, on 12th Street between 51st and 53rd. The cases of adulterated fentanyl were detected at the Italian Hospital in La Plata, where vials with multi-resistant bacteria were administered, causing severe infections and multiple deaths. According to the investigation, there were failures in the production and distribution processes of the drug. Laboratories HLB Pharma and Laboratorios Ramallo are being investigated for their alleged responsibility in the production of the contaminated batch that was distributed to multiple hospitals. On Wednesday, Federal Judge Ernesto Kreplak participated as a guest of the Special Monitoring and Investigation Commission on Contaminated Fentanyl of the Chamber of Deputies, where he revealed that after a traceability study, it was confirmed that more than 154,000 adulterated vials had circulated. During his presentation, Kreplak commented that the Argentine Integrated Health Information System (SISA) retained seven batches of vials for presumed contamination, of which two tested positive upon examination. To date, Justice has accounted for 124 deaths resulting from the health crisis caused by the ingestion of contaminated fentanyl, but the final number of fatal and non-fatal victims of this unprecedented health crisis will be known before the judicial recess, which will begin on December 26th and end on January 31st, 2026, Kreplak reported.
